CARDIFF CITY AND THE UEFA CUP

April 29th 2008 03:47
CARDIFF CITY AND THE UEFA CUP

So.

The English FA have been leniant.

If Cardiff win the FA Cup they make it to the UEFA Cup next season.

FA rules state that any team outside of England that wins the FA Cup cannot compete in Europe the following season.

They must make it to Europe through it's own competitions.

UEFA are happy to have Cardiff compete in it's competition next season. Provided it wins the FA Cup.

So back to my point.

Common sense.

It looks like both UEFA and the English FA have decided to use common sense, albeit not completely, and let Cardiff compete in Europe next season if it wins.

IF it wins.

Well, actually, both parties have made it tough for Cardiff to make it to Europe next season. Had they used complete common sense, they would let Cardiff into the UEFA Cup, win or lose.

If it is such a problem for Cardiff to compete in Europe next season through England, then why are they playing in the English league anyway???

It makes no sense.

What are your thoughts?
